Timing chains

The timing chains are part of the drive system that connects the camshaft to the crankshaft. They are used to transmit the rotation of the crankshaft to the camshaft and thus enable valve timing in the engine.

Timing chains for motorbikes consist of a series of interconnected links that run over gears on the crankshaft and camshaft. They are made of robust steel and must be durable, reliable and resistant to withstand the high stresses in the engine.

Like other components of the drive system, motorbike timing chains need to be serviced regularly and replaced when necessary to ensure smooth engine operation. An excessively stretched or worn timing chain can cause inaccurate valve timing and, in the worst case, lead to severe engine damage. Regular inspection and correct tensioning of the timing chain are therefore of great importance.
