NGK IX (Iridium) spark plugs
NGK IX spark plugs are offered at a higher price because they use higher quality materials and more advanced technologies. Their iridium electrode offers better ignition performance, longer life and higher efficiency. While regular NGK standard spark plugs are an inexpensive option with solid performance, the superior features of NGK IX spark plugs justify the higher price for drivers who want maximum performance and reliability.
The main difference between an NGK IX spark plug and a normal NGK spark plug lies in the material composition and the technology used in its manufacture:
- Electrode material:
- NGK IX spark plug: these spark plugs use iridium for the centre electrode. Iridium is an extremely hard and heat-resistant material that enables a very fine electrode, resulting in better ignition performance.
- Normal NGK spark plug: These spark plugs usually have a nickel alloy for the centre electrode, which is less heat-resistant and durable than iridium.
- Service life:
- NGK IX spark plug: Thanks to the iridium electrode material, IX spark plugs have a longer service life. They generally last two to three times longer than normal spark plugs.
